Every Sunday in church a baby starts crying and every Sunday one of our greeters quietly walks over takes the baby into their arms and clams it down. At first I was surprised, like your just going to let someone take your baby! Haha but here it’s normal. This is just how people are, always looking to help and love others. These parents then can continue to be in the service knowing their baby is in good hands. Is that not cool or what!? I am continually impressed with how people treat people here and their willingness to help others in all aspects of life.
Everywhere I go whether it be at church, hanging out with my team, teaching at the local school I get invited places or offered to try food! It's like money doesn't matter here the people just want you to experience the same joy they are experiencing. Is that not a good way to live life? I mean I would argue that's what Jesus wants us to do, share life experiences together and build others up by sharing that joy the Lord has given us. Over and over again I receive free rides home, coffee, lunch and they refuse to take any money I offer. Again I am just plain impressed with this new community I am apart of everyday.
After seeing all of this of course I want to be giving back and working for the people but without knowing the culture and language to the level I need to makes life hard! I am a mover and shaker so being held back is tough. It motivates me and depresses me at the same time, constantly fighting this battle to learn so I can do what I came here to do. BUT yet through all of it I am learning to be patient, listen more, and enjoy getting to know people, why they do certain things or think certain ways.
Go give joy to someone today, whether it be lunch or just a word of encouragement
