That moment when you feel everything clicks, it is like the world stopped spinning and you are just floating in the air. Is this real, can this be true you ask yourself. The moment lasts minutes or hours but to you, in your floating state of mind, it feels like a lifetime. As I sat on the sofa one had on the Xbox controller and the other in a bag of chips I felt like time had froze. There I was in my living room with my teammates/friends I had only known for less than two months, playing Fifa (soccer game), shouting Spanish words I didn't know, bonding. "No Manches!" the ball had bounced off the goal post after an easy kick for a goal. I heard that phrase about a thousand times! It was crazy the four us all playing, having fun, building relationships together over a video game and snacks late at night.
WOW, I would have never guessed this would be a part of missions work, but then again should I be surprised? This is more or less my personality, connecting with people anywhere with anything. (I have to admit, I am horrible at Fifa, LOL) Yet I was taken back that this was something I get to do on a weekly basis with a group of guys and God would use this to bring us not only closer together but closer to Him. But the story isn't over yet, at three in the morning everyone was hungry. Of course, they said let's go get tacos and I was like are you serious it's so late, but they didn't take no for an answer they were hungry LOL. Needless to say, this isn't the first time we have gotten tacos late at night and won't be the last.
This is now a weekly tradition, after church setup on Saturday night we go back to my place play Fifa, eat food and then hope to get some sleep before working at church the next day.
You never know what can bring people together and make moments you will never forget!
Be open, be willing and be available.
